Welcome to my small world on the immense world wide web. I am a full time potter when I am not chasing after my son. I live in a great community in Southern Ontario called Guelph, which is full of very creative and inspiring artists, musicians and community activists. I also have an addiction to photography which I am currently adapting into my ceramics. I photograph my work in clay, the people that I love and things in nature that cause me to take a second look. My collection of working film cameras has grown to nearly 50, I process my own Black & White film and can often be found in a local darkroom, developing.
I can also smell the change in the wind of the world around us. My partner and I, since becoming parental units have sharpened our senses to how surreal the world has become. One of the many issues that concern us is our food and where it comes from and how it is produced. I am inspired by courageous people such as Hugh Fearnly-Whittingstall from the River Cottage in the UK, and writers such as Michael Pollan and Barbara Kingsolver. We have turned our backgarden into the Garden of Eatin, and are learning how to grow and store healthy, local food.
I hope you will enjoy this journey, journal of me, Bunny Safari AKA Claygrl and my maniacal musings. Peace.
Dear Bunny Safari,
We found you via the Instant People project in which you recently participated. We love your contribution and your work.
That’s why we would like to introduce another photography project to you in which self-portraits are created too.
The project is ‘Follow the Red Line’ in which we try to make the longest conceptual photo series ever.
The concept being a self-portrait (width:height = 2:3) with a red line in it. The red line has to enter the photo on the left and leave it on the right and is the symbol of the connection between all photographers.
Why we do this? Because we think photography is fun and we like to make a virtual connection between photographers worldwide.
We aim for 2012 self-portraits in 2012 from at least 100 countries. We have about 200 self-portraits already from 27 countries, so we need a lot more!
Since you have contributed to Instant People, we thought you might like to join our series too.
And will you help us spread the word?
All contributions and the project rules can be found over here: http://www.redlineportraits.com
Hope to see your redline-self-portrait soon!
All the best,
Jessica van der Burg and Petra Oldengarm
the Netherlands
P.S. we participated in Instant People too…!
